Life insurance products offered under the European Freedom to Provide Services regime have played a direct role in the development of Luxembourg's status as a premiere financial center. Some of the characteristics of these life insurance contracts include :

• underlying assets of contract invested in internal dedicated funds
• strong regulatory framework consistent with Luxembourg's insurance supervisory authority, the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA)
• flexibility to allow each policyholder to benefit from favourable insurance regulations available in his country of residence.
